Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

Please phone 087 2805426 or 086 8135587

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

In this story Jesus cures the blind man, Bartimaeus. Recovery of sight in the Bible is often a metaphor for coming to faith. Perhaps during your life you have had moments of insight, of deeper understanding, of appreciating who Jesus is for you. What was it that helped you to see more clearly?

Who was the ‘Jesus person’ who helped you to see more clearly? Perhaps , as a parent, a teacher, or a friend, you have also been a ‘Jesus ‘person’ for another and helped her or him to a clearer understanding of the meaning of life, love, and faith.

To get to Jesus, Bartimaeus threw aside his cloak so that he would not be impeded. What have you had to discard to be able to see more clearly (e.g., prejudice, a rigid opinion)?

‘Your faith has saved you’ Jesus said to Bartimaeus. Recall situations in which you have been grateful for the faith that is yours because in some way it saved you.

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

Having marked the ‘International Day of Non-Violence’ on 2nd October, an article offers practical ways of tack-ling the scourge of violence against women. As the sec-ond ‘Synod on Synodality’ begins in Rome, we share opening meditations by Pope Francis and Fr Timothy Radcliff OP. ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ is the official hymn for the forthcoming Jubilee year 2025 that we look forward to. We offer an article on St John Henry Newman for his feast day on Wednesday 9th October and resources for ‘Children’s Day of Mission’ that takes place on

Friday 11th. We have a homily for the Twenty-Seventh Sunday of Ordinary Time that focuses on marriage and offer newsletter resources from Pope Francis’ ‘The Joy of Love’. Finally, an article debunks the myth of vast Vatican wealth – something that is often portrayed as an obstacle to faith.

Check out these and other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
