Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

Please phone 087 2805426 or 086 8135587

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

"Do not fear” is the unifying theme in this passage which is set in the context of a mission sermon by Jesus, preparing his disciples for what lay ahead. HE urges them o have courage in speaking his message and living his message, drawing strength from their trust in the Father who cares for us exceeds his care for hundreds of sparrows. How has trust in God been a source of strength in life for you?

The body/soul terminology presupposes an anthropology in which the soul represents one’s real self and the body is the perishable shell. For Jesus the important thing is to be true to one’s real self, even if this does involve some material or physical loss or pain. When you have had that kind of courage, what as it like for you?

There is no such thing as secret discipleship. It is declaring their allegiance to 0Jesus that his followers will find life. They will be the losers if they hide their discipleship. Does this resonate with your experience?

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

‘World Refugee Day’ was marked in Ireland on 20th June. We have the bishops’ statement that offers light on a very relevant issue today. The homily for the Twelfth Sunday of Ordinary Time calls for courage in the light of Jesus’ urging his disciples three times in the Sunday Gospel ‘Do not be Afraid’. We have the working document for the First Session of the General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in Rome in October this year. Sean Byrne reflects on how good came from a recent tragedy and how a recent report revealed that Irish people are the loneliest in the EU. A podcast explores where modern men are looking for spiritual wisdom and finally, we feature the story of Trent Horn – a young man who has become one of America’s leading apologists for the faith today Check out these and other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
