Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Jesus rejects the idea that personal misfortune is God’s punishment
for sin. Yet a serious illness or accident can serve as a wake-up call
about how we live our lives. How have such experiences given you a
greater appreciation of the value of your life and relationships, and of
the time, and opportunities at your disposal.
I’ll wait till tomorrow to do that’. Have you ever said that and then
found the chance is gone the next day? In the story we are called to
recognize God at work in our lives and respond to Him. NOW is the
opportune moment. When have you been glad you did not put off action to
the following day?
Perhaps there have been times when you saw yourself like the tree in
the parable - useless, merely a waste of space, unable to achieve what
you wanted. Think of friends who came to you at such a time, people who
saw your potential and were prepared to give you another chance, people
who also dug the soil around you and gave you the help you needed to
grow. Per-haps in your turns you have been able to do this for others.
THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK
The Gospel for the Third Sunday of Lent raises the question of
suffering and why bad things hap-pen to good people. This question
arises in our hearts as we watch the terrible situation unfold in
Ukraine. The homily and newsletter insert reflect on the place of
suffering and the cross in our lives. As part of the government’s
three-year abortion review, the public are asked to make submissions. We
help you to do so. Our video this week is with Micky Harte who reflects
on his re-cent biography ‘Devotion’. We have a podcast that discusses
the value of going to Confession and finally, an article and reflections
on the great feast of the Annunciation and Mary’s unconditional ‘YES’ to
God. Check out these and other resources available at
www.thehookoffaith.com
