INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR DARFUR, SUDAN, SUNDAY 16TH. SEPT.
A Prayer for Darfur.
We pray for the people of Darfur who have suffered violent conflict for the last four
years. for those who have fled to refugee camps and who still live in fear.
We pray for those who have died and for their families.
We pray for the women in Darfur who face danger every day as they leave their camps for
firewood. May you watch over them Lord.
We pray for the children of Darfur especially those who face a frightening world
without one or both of their parents. May they be protected and comforted.
We pray for the safety of aid workers as they help and care for the people of Darfur.
We pray that world leaders will find the wisdom and the courage to work for real peace
for the people of Darfur. We pray for the people of Sudan as a whole, that they may find
peace after many long years of civil war.
We pray that people everywhere will strive to live in peace, tolerance and respect- no
matter what their faith or race.
May we gain the wisdom, grace and generosity of spirit to overcome our differences and
live as one. Amen.

Galway, Donegal, Wexford and Dublin. Our Suicide Prevention Candlelight Vigils are for all

It was you all along
Figuratively speaking, weve all taken the wrong bus, made the wrong decision,
worshipped the wrong God even. So, we can understand the mistake of this motley band
wandering in the desert. Who hasnt wanted a golden calf- a God they
could see, touch and feel? At least they were trying to praise a deity.
And who hasnt experienced a glimpse of the joy of God when the lost ones are
found? If a key or document that is found can prompt such a response, how much more a
human life? While some are more comfortable with a God whose wrath
blazes
out ; we obviously have an involved God. A God who cares.
A God who is a father-prodigious in giving. Who in some way has been told by Western
culture (younger son); Im taking all my inheritance from you and going to
treat you like you were dead. Could our churches be like the elder brother, doing
the right thing, but with no real heart.
Maybe in the end, we will realise that we were more searched for than searching, more
found by God than lost. After our course of life, with all its twists and turns we can say
it was you all along that I sought.
