Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

Please phone 087 2805426 or 086 8135587

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

When we are not expecting it to happen, even a good event can startle us. So it was with the disciples when Jesus appeared to them. He sought to calm them and helped them to see the good news behind what had initially alarmed them. Who has been a Jesus person for you by helping you to find meaning and good news in life?

Jesus helped the disciples to find new hope, but he did not give them easy answers. He asked them to see the facts before their eyes. He wanted them to learn from the lived experience they were having. As a parent, teacher, friend, or guide, have you been a Jesus person to another, helping him/her to find hope and purpose in life by learning from his/her experiences? Who has done this for you?

Jesus opened their minds to "understanding the scriptures", and the effect was transformative. Perhaps there have been times when a new and deeper understanding of scripture has had a transformative impact on you. Recall the experience and give thanks for those who opened the scriptures for you.

The resurrection experience empowered the disciples to be witnesses. Unexpected possibilities for the future surfaced when it seemed that hope had gone. When have new possibilities opened for you after a "resurrection" experience: recovery of health when it did not seem possible, new opportunities after failure or disappointment, inner healing after a deep hurt, etc?

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

‘Dignitas Infinita…Infinite dignity’ is the recent document published by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and spells out again the dignity of the human person. We have the document in full and a commentary by Bishop Robert Barron. We have an appeal by Bishop Ger for prayers for favourable weather to allow the tillage of fields and sowing of crops. We have news of a conference taking place in both Kilkenny and Ballyvaloo in May on ‘Conversations with Women in the Bible’. We have an article on the need for another ‘Spiritual Revolution’ for our times like that which happened after the first Easter. Mark Bradford from ‘Word on Fire’ speaks to the UN on the rights of people with Down Syndrome. Finally, we have a homily for the Third Sunday of Easter where the risen Lord shows the disciples his wounds and how faith is born when human wounds and Christ’s wounds meet. Check out these and other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
