TRÓCAIRE

‘My Son, you are with me and all I have is yours’ (Luke 15:32)
The parable of the prodigal son illustrates a parent’s unconditional love for his or her children, as a father welcomes home a son who has strayed, while reassuring his other son that he is also loved dearly. On Mother’s Day we realise , again, the depth of this parental love in our own lives. The little girl on the Trócaire, Domitille, is lucky to have a mother to love and look after her. Often her mother, Triponie goes without food to make sure her children get enough to eat. She tells Trócaire that there isn’t always enough to go round and she will do whatever it takes to make sure they don’t cry with hunger. Please support Trócaire’s Lenten campaign this year in whatever way you can. Your support will help mothers like Triphonie all over the world.

THE SACRAMENT OF PENANCE AND RECONCILIATION

Which sins must be confessed?
All grave sins not yet confessed, which a careful examination of conscience brings to mind, must be brought to the sacrament of Penance. The confession of serious sins is the only ordinary way to obtain forgiveness.
Why can venial sins also be the object of sacramental confessions?
The confession of venial sins is strongly recommended by the Church, even if this is not strictly necessary, because it helps us to form a correct conscience and to fight against evil tendencies. It allows us to be healed by Christ and to progress in the life of the Spirit.
Who is the minister of this sacrament?
Christ has entrusted the ministry of Reconciliation to his apostles, to the bishops who are their successors and to the priests who are their collaborators of the bishops, all of whom become thereby instruments of the mercy and justice of God. They exercise their power of forgiving sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Catechism of the Catholic Church)
