Prayer for Fine Weather

The Bishop of Ferns, Dr. Denis Brennan, has asked that prayers for fine weather be offered at all Masses for the month of September.

In making the appeal the Bishop said he ‘was conscious of the difficulties being faced by many involved in agriculture generally.

The prayer will be said at all Masses in the diocese during September.

All -powerful and ever -living God, we find security in your care and love for us. Give us fine weather we pray for and need. May the harvest be secured and the hard work and efforts of so many of our people come to fruition.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen

The Diary of a Cancer Patient -

Imagine being told you have a serious illness and have one year to live.

It’s a moment we all fear and hope will never happen to us, or to someone we know. As a priest , Fr. Martin Tierney knew about cancer as it affected people around him, until that recently radically changed when he was diagnosed with it.

This week exclusively in The Irish Catholic, Fr. Tierney writes candidly from his hospital bed about the shock of being told he has cancer and that the doctors have given him one year to live.

Determined as ever to be a priest to his people, Fr Tierney wants to help people understand cancer diagnosis and to journey with him as he tries to come to terms with illness, God and death. Starting this week exclusively in The Irish Catholic. Copies of The Irish Catholic can be ordered from Lucy Wall-Murphy
