Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
At a first reading the demand of Jesus sounds selfish.
“Anyone who prefers father or mother to me is not worthy of me.” It only
makes sense when we realise that Jesus will never be outdone in
generosity.
Jesus never wanted suffering for anyone but he knew that
if we are going to follow in his footsteps, promoting love and respect
for every person, we will meet with opposition. Fidelity has its price,
but also rewards. Would you agree?
The passage is a call to both radical and practical
discipleship. When have you found that in order to achieve a certain
objective you had to make it a priority, and then take the practical
steps necessary to reach your goal? What were the benefits to you when
you did this?
“Hate” is prophetic exaggeration for the uncompromising
loyalty Jesus seeks in disciples. There may be times when people make
demands in conflict with fidelity to another relationship. This can be
painful. When have you found that being clear about your priorities
helped you in that situation?
THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK
Bishop Ger has appointed Dr Sean O’Leary as Director of
Pastoral Development for the diocese of Ferns. In an article, he offers
a reflection on the scope of pastoral development for the times we live
in and looks forward to the challenges ahead. In the Gospel for the
Fourteen Sunday of Ordinary Time, Jesus invites us to come to him,
especially those who are struggling and who are tired. We have the
second part of a reflection on faith and science where examples are
offered of natural processes that mirror deeper spiritual realities. We
have a reflection by Pope Francis on the life of Blaise Paschal on the
four centenary of his birth and finally an article on St Benedict for
his feast day and how he challenges any attempts to marry seamlessly the
spirit of the age and the radical Gospel message. Check out these and
other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
