Reflection
It’s good to go to a space apart - a room for prayer, a few days
holiday, a time where we can take time out. Lent is that. A time to
refresh the body, mind, and spirit, in prayer, in some fasting maybe,
and in the type of love that shares with others, especially the poor.
Lent focuses on prayer, fasting and almsgiving: all ways of taking us
inside ourselves to be renewed, and outside ourselves to love others.
The real test of Christian life, prayer and fasting is how we live our
lives in the everyday. The test of Lent in the end is not what we have
done for Lent, but what Lent has done for others through us. It is a
sacred space to get in touch with Jesus. Donal Neary SJ
