Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

Please phone 087 2805426 or 086 8135587

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

It is possible to be a dutiful and observant Christian, and yet feel there is something missing. Does it not make a huge difference when your heart is in what you are doing? It is so much better than just going through the motions. Where do you experience that most in your life?

The desire of Jesus for us is that we grow in that kind of committed, enthusiastic involvement in life. What encourages you to grow in this way? Recall times when your relationship with God, or with another person, was something that gave you energy, hope or joy. What lessons do you learn from those memories?

The elders probably thought well of themselves in contrast to the tax collectors and sinners. Perhaps you know some unconventional people, ones who appear to ignore the “right” way of doing things, and yet they have taught you something about true goodness.

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

The Homily for the Twenty-Sixth Sunday of Ordinary time reminds us of our call to be ‘doers of the Word’ of God – the Gospel must have roots in us that causes us to act differently. In a video interview, Bishop Robert Barron asks why we are so prone to distractions and restlessness. ‘Take a Risk for Christ’ is the title of this year dedicated to vocations to the diocesan priesthood and we have news of a ‘Come and See’ weekend in Maynooth in November. As the Synod on Synodality begins in Rome, we include video interviews with some of the Irish participants. In advance of their feast days, we have articles on both Blessed Columba Marmion and St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology. Jim Thompson writes an article that marks the end of the ‘Season of Creation’. Check out these and other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
