Old Letters from the Kelly family in Church Street Bunclody

Below are copies of letters sent from Richard and Catherine Kelly (nee Quail) of Church Street in the early 1880s to their daughter Julia in the USA. They are very interesting because not only do they give some insight into life at that period, but also give an insight into the happening and evictions concerning the Land League in the area. My thanks to their descendant Jim McGovern for these copies. By the way, Jim is looking for a copy of an old photo of a band that used to hang in the old church on Church Street (beside the FCJ convent) There are 3 letters in total. This is letter 2.        Back       To Letter 3
